Artist Statement & Video
For the past couple of months I have been crate digging for vinyl records at the flea market. I love music, I love the sound quality of a record and a needle, and I love the way music inspires. There is also something about physically going to a flea market and searching for your own personal treasures. These life experiences gave me the idea for this new art installation.
From a distance you see a bookshelf filled to the brim with books. I collaged the spines of the books with sheet music by Mozart and Beethoven. I also painted various images on the covers of every book. All the books vary in size, but they all look the same from a glance. "Do you ever hear that infamous quote, Dont judge a book by its cover?"
Go up to the shelf and touch it. Pull out a book and see what is on the cover. Open the book and read what is inside. Maybe you'll find your own personal treasures.
Back from Las Vegas...
and boy it was a blast... We did a bunch of biking and got to see all the sides of Las Vegas.

Here's the installation... and some links for more pics.

The Ninja Stars
Here are some of my thoughts when making this piece. The American Flag is missing it's stars. The stars represent the states and the people. Particularly an American Dream of becoming stars and celebrities. Then there are those who are unseen like the Ninja, who was just a non-violent practitioner of religion later born to be used against the government. He's wandering aimlessly in an outer space dream unaware of his mission, yet every Ninja has a mission.
We are all in different states of mind. The Universe and the stars are a reflection of us. The flag needed some stars so I decided to give it some ninja stars. The Ninja stars also represents our aim, direction, and point of destination.

Here's a glimpse of my upcoming show in San Jose. A big influence in this piece has to do with dreams, fears, Japanese art, The Beatles, The Universe, and the American Dream.
